PLAYA – is an emerging network of performance and live art organisations and festivals in Europe. Its principal aim is the advocacy of performance and live art and its history and practice. Its main activities will be the organisation of an annual assembly attended by its members – currently around 40 – from different parts of Europe, and the promotion of critical writing about member activities, to be published in a web journal. It is initiated by Live Art Ireland along with some of its active partner members. Currently it has held two online assemblies in 2024 and 2025. PLAYA as an acronym represents both pleasure as in the Spanish word for beach, and the concept of play – an essential element of performance and live art. The member organisations listed here have all been in contact with us in one way or another – if you know of anyone who should be included please contact us via contact form below
